Do you remember that awesome song by the Wiggles: Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy? I tend to sing that song in my head every time I eat one. For the past 2 months, I’m a bit sad to say our family’s eating habits have not been so great. This 4th pregnancy had me really nauseous early on at 6 weeks and it is finally starting subside a bit at 14 weeks. The thought of eating fruits and vegetables made me want to hurl, and all my favorite healthy food options had me running for the hills. Needless to say, our family has been living on take out a lot since it’s been hard to cook. Thankfully I’m starting to be able to eat different foods again and the timing has been great because both my husband and son are also getting ready for some big tournaments in the next couple months.
When on the go, it can be hard to find healthy options for your family. One of my favorite types of places to go are juice bars that offer fresh fruit salads, Acai bowls and smoothies. The fruit salads typically consist of assorted fruits (usually whatever is in season) and topped with cottage cheese, granola, coconut and honey. You may have read about my love and tutorial of how to make your own Acai Bowls and Green Juice and Smoothies which we do make often at our house, but it’s always nice to head to the juice bars and avoid washing dishes too! I’ve listed some great juice bars in San Diego below, and I would love for you to let me know if there’s one I should check out!
