Food Adventures in North Park, San Diego

Funny enough, 8 years ago my husband and I contemplated about moving to North Park. We were training Jiu Jitsu in the area at the time so we spent a lot of our days there. Fast forward to today, and North Park is probably one of the best places in San Diego to eat. It may have been a blessing that we never made that community our home since we would probably be eating out every day (not necessarily a bad thing but difficult with a family of 5)! Thankfully it’s close enough where we can take a short drive to satisfy any cravings we may have. Below are some of my favorite spots (some old and some new). These all happen to be on 30th Street so you can definitely take a day and cruise by every single one if you had the time.

  • SeƱor Mango’s: We have been coming to this place for as long as I can remember. They have amazing fruit salads, smoothies and Acai Bowls!
  • Wow Wow Waffle: I love waffles. I love waffles more when they’re topped with bacon, avocado and goat cheese (seriously, this is one of my favorite combos)! They’re also even better with a huge mason jar of ice cold lemonade. This awesome spot is owned by 2 of my brother’s friends, Joe and Amy. If you ever stop by, let them know I sent you!
  • Nomad Donuts: A donut lover’s dream. If you like donuts and funky combinations, this is your spot. Menu changes daily. Go early if there’s a flavor you have your heart set on, because they sell out!

  • StreetCar Merchants of Fried Chicken, Doughnuts & Coffee: If you know me well, I’m also a huge fan of Fried Chicken and Waffles and all the fixings. Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. If you’re in the same boat, try this spot. Don’t forget the bottle of Ginger Beer or Grape Soda. YUM.

  • Soda & Swine I only recently tried this place out but it definitely is on my favorites list now. They specialize in different combinations of meatballs and you can have them as a sandwich, on top of spaghetti, *insert option here, they probably have it*. If you love brussel sprouts, they have them too. Their apple pie a la mode is really yummy too. Ask for their pie of the day!

Let me know where your favorite spot in North Park is and if we haven’t already tried it, I’ll put it on my “Must Eat” List!

I just tried Nomad and I loved how weird the donuts were. We took them down to Fall Brewing and had a beer. Lots of places I still need to try though.
