I used to be a bookworm. As a kid I frequently hung out at my local library with my parents and brought home stacks of books almost every day. My mom has a photo of me asleep in a laundry basket next to my reading collection when I was around 5 years old. I would spend hours with my nose stuck in a book (Cue Belle’s song from Beauty and the Beast). Those were the days! It wasn’t until after college that I slowly stopped reading novels (I do have a long list of favorite Marriage and Parenting books though), but lately I’ve been trying to change that. I started racking my brain for books I loved, and have been making my book list of old favorites and new titles. Yesterday my husband and I had our Sunday morning Brunch date in North Park and I Yelped for locations of bookstores to go book hunting at. I thought it would be cool to check out some secondhand book shops instead of going to a big box retailer since it’s also nice to support local small businesses. I had a lot of people suggest to me to purchase e-books but I am one of those people that love to turn pages from an actual book. My eyes tend to hurt after staring at an electronic device too. ;] We ended up at Footnote Books in Hillcrest, and I was happy to bring home a couple of books from my list. This shop is tiny but stacked high to the ceiling with books! The owner was really nice and helped track down a lot of of the titles I was looking for. He only had 2 but I look forward to coming back! I spent $8 on Where the Red Fern Grows and Ender’s Game: SCORE! All the books were half off the listing price. Below I’m adding my book list and would love for you to contribute to it! I know it’s a bit short right now but I’ll definitely be adding to this as I go. What are some of your favorite titles?
